Another KPOP STAR participant to make a dashing debut!

During her appearance on KPOP STAR 2, high school student Choi Ye Geun wowed everyone with her amazing piano and singing skills, making it all the way to the "Top 8". Unfortunately, it has been difficult to see her again since then. Finally, Choi returns with a new song "Supermoon", taking the first step into her career.

“Supermoon” is a combination of R&B, hiphop, and jazz. What's noteworthy is that Choi Ye Geun led the composing, lyric writing, and arranging of the song. Over some groovy rhythms, jazzy piano and warm organ sounds harmoniously come together. Choi's vocal, freely switching from jazz and R&B, bring out the catchy melodies and uplift the song to perfection.

'K팝 스타 2' 방송 출연 당시 고등학생이던 최예근은 놀라운 피아노 실력과 가창력으로 심사위원을 사로잡으며 '톱 8'까지 진출한 바 있다. 하지만 이후 별다른 결과물이 나오지 않아 아쉬움을 샀는데, 드디어 그녀가 신곡 “Supermoon”과 함께 본격적인 커리어의 시작을 알린다.

“Supermoon”은 알앤비, 힙합, 재즈가 삼합을 이룬 곡이다. 무엇보다 최예근이 작사, 작곡, 편곡 모든 부분을 주도했다는 사실이 눈에 띈다. 그루브가 살아있는 리듬 위로 재지한 피아노와 푸근한 감흥을 자아내는 오르간이 절묘하게 어우러지고, 재즈와 알앤비사이를 능숙하게 오가는 그녀의 보컬이 탄탄하게 짜인 멜로디와 만나 완성도에 방점을 찍었다.
